In small-town Trinidad, Dhani works as a street vendor with his poor mother, Sumintra. Both resent his father Ragbir for leaving them for Toronto, especially because of worsening conditions in Trinidad. After getting humiliated by a girl and Sumintra getting robbed at knifepoint, Dhani has lost his patience. He decides to go to Canada to confront his father and ask him to help the family he left behind years ago.
