Set in early 18th-century Venice, Italy, the fate of a virtuoso violinist named Cecilia is transformed when her orphanage hires the ambitious composer Antonio Vivaldi as its new music instructor. Expanding on the novel “Stabat Mater” by Tiziano Scarpa, the film’s script is based on the real life of Vivaldi, who was a Roman Catholic priest and taught at the Ospedale della Pietà for almost 30 years. Combining stunning visuals and an unforgettable score, Primavera is the directorial debut of Michieletto, who is a world-renowned stage director, especially known for his operas.
