When Ali takes Sofia, the daughter of his immigrant tenant, to school one day, he meets Ava, an elementary school teacher in the British city of Bradford, and in almost no time they’re bantering about their musical tastes. She likes folk, he hates folk; he likes punk and electronic beats, and she doesn’t know what to make of those. Both lonely for different reasons, the two bond over their shared affection for the girl and soon sparks fly and a deep connection begins to grow. However, the legacy of Ava’s past relationship and Ali’s emotional turmoil at the breakdown of his marriage begin to overshadow their newfound passion.
